Improvement in the nutritional value of feed by increased AME of diets

AME Methodology - Growing Turkeys
  • Ad-libitum feeding:
    • 1-14 days Standard feed - normal
      housing conditions.
    • 15-16 days Standard feed - adaptation to metabolism cages.
    • 17-24 days Experimental Feed.

3 days adaptation
4 days excreta collection

  • Experimental design:
    • 1 turkey per cage
    • 12 replicates per treatment
  • Collection of excreta daily
  • Analytical measurements:
    • Feed intake per cage
    • Individual weight gain
    • Gross energy of feeds
    • Gross energy of excreta
