ROVABIO EXCEL in pig feeds
Rovabio EXCEL improves the nutritional value of feeds containing
arabinoxylans or glucans.
This improvement will be evaluated by digestibility tests
on feeds with or without Rovabio.
The consequences on growth performance will be measured by
zootechnical trials run in experimental stations.

From ileal digestible
energy to standard (fecal) digestible energy

Excel efficacy is not confirmed by Fecal digestible energy
comparison in pig feeds.
Methodology for Fecal digestible Energy (INRA):
- Animals in digestibility cages
- 6/7 castrated pigs per treatment
Piétrain x (Large White x Ladrace)
30.9 lb live weight at the beginning
- Feed intake adjusted to weight gain
- Timing:
- 7 days adaptation to cages
- 10 experimental days with
- total collection of feces and urine
Approximate relationship between ileal digestible energy
and standard (fecal) digestible energy:

+ 16 Kcal/lb

|
Net Energy should benefit from higher ileal energy because
of better conversion (K)

Methodology for Net Energy evaluation (INRA)
- Animals in digestibility cages and respiratory chambers
Same experimental design as fecal digestibility of
energy
|
Additional measurements during the 10
experimental days:
- 3 first days: outside of respiratory chamber
- feed intake - excreta and urine collection
- 6 following days: respiratory chamber:
- feed intake - excreta + urine collection
- respiratory exchange (CO2, O2, CH4)
- physical activity
- last day: pigs are fasted:measurement of respiratory
exchange and physical activity
|
Excel efficacy is confirmed by increasing Net Energy in pig

Adisseo suggestions:
- Adding the enzymes on top of the feed:
- To improve feed efficiency.
- To add flexibility at the formulation
- To improve sanitary conditions.
or:
- Decreasing feed specifications for net energy and digestible
amino-acid by 1 to 1.5 %:
- To reduce the cost
- To improve sanitary conditions
