Trial Design

  • Turkey hen floor pen trial - 48 pens containing 30 Hybrid poults at a stocking density of 1.87ft²
  • Four Treatments: 2 x 2 Factorial
    Energy Level:
    1. 1330, 1400, 1470, 1540 & 1610 kcal/lb
    2. 1300, 1370, 1440, 1510, & 1580 kcal/lb
    FEEDS FED 3 WEEKS EACH (.181L/ton)

    Enzyme Level:
    1. No added Rovabio™ Excel
    2. Rovabio™ Excel

    Start: March 29, 2001; All birds weighed at 0, 21, 42, 63, 84 and 98 days of age
    End: July 5, 2001

Summary of Rovabio™ Excel use in Turkey Feeding Trials

Formulation "Up-Lift" Method: Similar or better performance occurred validating the 30kcal energy "up-lift" in corn/soybean meal diets.

"On-Top" Method: Bottom Line Performance improved as seen below:

  1. An improvement in Adjusted Feed Conversion of 6 to 9 points in Turkeys
  2. An improvement in feed cost per unit of gain, return per bird and breast meat value
  3. A trend towards an improvement in bird uniformity
