Broiler Performance Trials
with Corn/Soybean Meal Diets

View data in: Units / lb Units / kg

Index:
Trial 1: Standard vs. Low Energy Diets
Trial 2: Standard vs. High Energy Diets
Conclusions

Trials 1 & 2

Objectives

  • To determine the effectiveness of Rovabio™ Excel LC when applied to commercial corn/soybean meal-based diets fed to broilers
  • To determine the above without the confounding of results with application of the product with post-pelleting equipment
  • To evaluate the economic benefit based upon how integrators evaluate products relative to performance and yield data
  • Evaluate this design model to use at other locations/regions/species

Justification

  • Limited data on strictly corn/soybean meal animal protein-based broiler diets fed in the U.S. In addition, many companies have claimed this but have been unable to show CONSISTENT results. The industry has thus become leery of claims, but is still open to discussing new findings

Conclusions:

  • The addition of Rovabio™ Excel to corn/soya diets improved weight gain and feed conversion. These differences were generally significant (P < 0.05) or tending toward significance).
  • The standard energy diet + Rovabio™ Excel was the best overall performing group

  • Comparing the 2 standard energy diets, the addition of Rovabio™ Excel numerically resulted in increased bottom line in feed cost savings.

Further considerations...

  • These results demonstrate the consistency and repeatabilility of Rovabio™ Excel in growth tests. This model can be repeated in different locations.
  • Rovabio™ Excel gives a response in diets with different energy levels.

  • More work is necessary to understand in corn and/or soybean meal the factors influencing the magnitude of this response.
